New Dog Owner Tips

 

Owning a dog is not an easy task, it entails a lot of works and responsibility, most especially to people who does not have an experience in caring for a dog. It is very important for new dog owners to know the responsibility that comes in owning a dog. You should be able to know the kinds of vaccination your dog needs to prevent ailments and grow up as a strong and healthy dog.  It is also important for you to know your responsibility to your dogs, your liability to people if your dog happens to harm other people and the maintenance needed to own a dog. Knowing the essential things in owning a dog will make you a good dog owner even if it is your first time.

Vaccination is a simple process but usually taken for granted by some of the dog owners. Immunization is important to dogs, like humans, because this will be their defense against diseases and will prevent your dog from acquiring diseases as he grows up. Vaccines are given to puppies usually when they are six to eight weeks old and are administered every three to four weeks apart. A minimum of two vaccinations is given until the age of sixteen weeks and vaccination against rabies is also necessary. Other vaccinations will be on the owner's prerogative and or upon the advice of a veterinarian. It is important for dog owners to immunize their dogs against rabies because they have a liability when their dog bites other people.

Dog owners have a liability if his dog happens to bite people or cause harm to the property of others. Every state has a law that make a dog owner legally liable to every injury or property damage the dog has cause.  They usually termed it "the dog-bite statutes." Owning a dog is not that easy you have to have a sense of responsibility in order for your dog not to cause harm or injury to people and their property. There are many ways to prevent your dog from harming other people and it is just a matter of proper training.

The main responsibility of dog owners to their dogs is to provide them with a happy and healthy life. And this can be done by feeding then complete and balance diet. Training them to behave in a good manner and taking them to the veterinarian at least once a year for check-up on their health status. It is also your responsibility to provide him a dwelling place that is comfortable for him and that he lives in a friendly environment. Owning a dog may also require you of more training, exercise and patience in order to help your dog become a better companion. Lastly, you have to consider the maintenance it needs to own a dog.

Owning a dog requires each and every dog owners some budget on veterinary visits for medical concerns of your dog such as vaccination and supplements. Allotted budget for your dog's food supply should be considered. Proper grooming and friendly environment should be maintained at all times in order for your dog to be physically strong and healthy. The most important thing you need to know in owning a dog is that you should be able to cater to all its need because as owner, you are responsible for your dog's food, shelter, companionship, exercise, and physical and mental health for the rest of his life.

Certainly, owning a dog entails lots of work and responsibility, however the reward of owning a dog could not be replaced by something of value. The values you have develop and the friendship you made with your dog will forever be save in you data bank of memories. Owning a dog will certainly have positive impacts on your health and will benefit people from all walks of life. In fact, owning a dog makes dog owners open to changes and less likely to have stress.
