Dog Grooming

 

A clean and pretty dog does not only make his owner love him but as well as other people and dogs who sees them everyday. Meaning the more beautiful they look the more friends they make. Good grooming is important to our pet dog, not only for them to look good but it will also help them in their psychological well-being. Bathing is the first step to proper grooming. Aside from this, your pet dog's nail, ears and teeth should also be given a special attention. Proper grooming is an important part in your pet's over-all development, so it should not be taken for granted.

Your pet dog needs a good bath in order to remove the dirt that that has accumulated in his skin and hair for sometime. However, it is not recommended to give your pet dog frequent bath, once a moth is already enough.  Bathing your pet dog frequently will make his skin dry and will cause bacterial infections. Instead, give your pet dog a brush suitable for your pet dog's particular coat, there are many of them available in the market and you have many selections to choose from. Brushing your dog's hair everyday will help remove dirt and will keep his hair healthy and his skin clean and healthy. Moreover keeping his toenails clean ad short, will add to his clean appearance.

Aside from keeping your pet dog's skin and hair clean and healthy, it is important for dog owners to keep their pet dog's nail clean and short. Just like human, pet dog's nail also grows, so it is advisable to cut the m once a month or every two to three weeks. The type of clipper you should use will depend on the kind of dog breed you have, it is necessary to use a clipper that is specifically designed for the kind of pet dog you have.  Moreover, always have beside you a bottle of blood clotting powder or cornstarch if ever you cut the quick , it is the part of your pet dog's nail that contains nerves and blood vessels, to stop the bleeding. Ear infection does not usually cause pain to your pet dog, but it will lead to permanent hearing loss if not properly groom. The signs of probable ear infection are constant scratching, head shaking, redness and foul odor. If your pet dog manifests any of these symptoms, then it is time to see a veterinarian to give early medications to your pet dog's ear problem. It is advisable to clean your pet dog's ear twice a month with a moisten cotton ball. Dampen your cotton ball with water or oil and use it to clean the earflaps and the opening to the canal, just make sure not to go deeply into the canal.

Since your pet dog also eats, it cannot be avoided that your pet dog also gets tooth cavities just as humans do. So it is needed to brush your pet dog's teeth twice a week. There are many types of toothbrushes available in the market, so be careful to chose the right toothbrush for your pet dog. It is recommended to use a pet's toothpaste and short soft bristle toothbrush to clean your pet dog's teeth. You may also have your veterinarian do the teeth cleaning for your dog if you do not have the time. Just keep in mind that whether you or your vet do the cleaning, it is important that your pet dog should be given proper grooming.

There are many tools and products available in pet supply stores that will help you in grooming your pet dog, what is important is that you take into consideration the kind of pet dog you have before buying any product. Chose the right product specifically designed for the type of pet dog you have. As much as possible, start the grooming when your pet dog is still a puppy. Remember, that a clean and healthy puppies or dogs reflect the owner's personality.  Proper grooming for your pet is a part of pet care, so it is your responsibility to keep your pet clean and healthy.
